Alessandro Speranza was a favored pupil of Francesco Durante during his studies at the conservatories of Naples in the mid‑18th century. Sources indicate that Speranza studied either at the Conservatorio di Santa Maria di Loreto or at the Conservatorio di Sant’Onofrio, both institutions where Durante served as director. Durante personally supervised Speranza’s musical training, correcting and refining his works Principi di contrappunto and Studii written during this period.
