In 1945, Vladimir Ashkenazy entered the Central Music School, where he studied under Anaida Sumbatyan. He considers her to be one of his main teachers.
Sumbatyan taught the piano class at the Central Music School in Moscow for many years. She is noted for educating Ashkenazy, who became a laureate of the International Tchaikovsky Competition.
