Johann Sebastian Bach learned to write dramatic openings and employ dynamic rhythms and harmonic schemes used by Italian composers such as Antonio Vivaldi. Bach absorbed these stylistic aspects by transcribing Vivaldi's string and wind concertos for harpsichord and organ. He was particularly attracted to the Italian style found in these works, in which one or more solo instruments alternate section-by-section with the full orchestra.
