Arcangelo Corelli influenced François Couperin. Couperin turned to composing trio sonatas under the impression of Corelli's music, and, following the model of the Italian composer, wrote a sonata that he presented as the work of an “Italian author Couperino”.
Couperin also regarded Corelli as one of his teacher-predecessors. He paid tribute to Corelli in the multi-movement instrumental concert “Le Parnasse ou l'apotheose de Corelli” (1724).
Corelli's influence extended to Couperin as part of an entire generation of composers influenced by Corelli's works.
