Edvard Grieg studied piano under Louis Plaidy at the Leipzig Conservatory. Grieg was dissatisfied with Plaidy as a teacher and said that they differed so strongly in tastes and interests (in Grieg’s view, Plaidy was a straightforward pedant and a poorly capable performer) that Grieg requested a transfer to the class of Ernst Ferdinand Wenzel.
