Eliso Virsaladze is the granddaughter of the pianist and pedagogue Anastasia Virsaladze. Eliso spent her childhood and youth in her grandmother's family, receiving her first piano lessons from her. She continued her studies under Anastasia Virsaladze's guidance at the Tbilisi Central Music School and later at the Tbilisi Conservatory from 1960 to 1966.
Anastasia Virsaladze applied specific teaching principles to her granddaughter's education, avoiding forced learning and fostering a broad spiritual horizon that included literature and foreign languages. Instead of traditional technical exercises, Anastasia developed Eliso's skills using artistic repertoire, specifically excluding most etudes other than those by Chopin and Liszt. Special attention was given to the works of Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven to polish her musical mastery.
