Erwin Bodky counted Ferruccio Busoni among his teachers while studying as a pianist at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik and the Scharwenka Conservatory between 1914 and 1916.
Bodky eventually parted ways with Busoni over a disagreement regarding musical interpretation. The split occurred after the mentor learned that his student was performing the works of Johann Sebastian Bach in their original versions rather than in Busoni's editions.
