Francesco Manfredini studied violin under Giuseppe Torelli in Bologna, where Torelli was a leading figure in the development of the concerto grosso. This period of instruction took place early in Manfredini’s career, before 1700, and provided him with foundational training that influenced his later work as a Baroque composer and violinist.
The relationship is further confirmed by biographical accounts of Torelli, which list Manfredini among his pupils, indicating a direct teacher–student connection between the two musicians during their time in Bologna.
