Gennaro Manna received his musical education at the Conservatorio di Sant'Onofrio a Porta Capuana in Naples, where his uncle Francesco Feo served as primo maestro. Feo was Manna's first teacher and guided his early musical training, providing foundational instruction within one of Naples’s leading conservatories.

Francesco Feo, already an esteemed composer and pedagogue by the time Manna entered the conservatory, counted Manna among his students during his influential sixteen-year tenure at Sant'Onofrio. Under Feo’s supervision, Manna studied alongside other notable pupils, benefiting from Feo’s reputation as one of the foremost teachers in Naples.
