Georg Caspar Wecker studied under Johann Erasmus Kindermann in Nuremberg, where Kindermann was one of the city’s most acclaimed teachers during the first half of the 17th century. Wecker, born and active in Nuremberg throughout his life, is explicitly identified as a pupil of Kindermann, placing his musical training within the influential Nuremberg school tradition.
Kindermann, who taught numerous significant musicians of the period, instructed Wecker during the years before Wecker established himself as an organist beginning in 1651. Through Kindermann’s guidance, Wecker became part of the pedagogical lineage that later shaped composers such as Johann Pachelbel.
