Gertrud Mara → Pietro Paradisi

Studied under

Gertrud Elisabeth Mara studied under the Italian composer and harpsichordist Pietro Domenico Paradisi during her time in England in 1759, when she was still at the beginning of her vocal training. Paradisi, already an established musician and teacher in London, provided her with early instruction in singing, contributing to the development of her technique and musical foundation.

This teacher–student relationship marked one of Mara’s formative steps toward becoming a celebrated operatic soprano, and her studies with Paradisi helped prepare her for the further musical education she later pursued in Ireland, the Netherlands, and Leipzig. Although brief, their connection played an important role in shaping the early direction of her vocal career.
