Giovanni Gabrieli studied under Orlando di Lasso during his time in the Munich ducal chapel between 1575 and 1579. While working in Munich, Gabrieli received direct musical training from Lasso, who was serving as maestro di cappella and was one of the most esteemed composers of the period. This period of study strongly influenced Gabrieli’s developing style and contributed to shaping his later work within the Venetian School.
