Conservatory of Pietà dei Turchini in Naples
Giovanni Paisiello studied under Girolamo Abos after the latter returned to Italy in 1758 to teach at the Conservatorio della Pietà de' Turchini in Naples. Abos, already an established composer of operas and church music and a former pupil of Leonardo Leo and Francesco Durante, contributed to shaping Paisiello’s early musical formation during his years of study at the institution.
