While studying law at the University of Leipzig beginning in 1623, Heinrich Albert continued his musical education and is believed to have studied under Johann Hermann Schein, who at that time served as Thomaskantor and music director in Leipzig. Schein, a close friend of Heinrich Schütz, was an influential composer of the early German Baroque, and Albert likely received instruction from him during this period.
Additional confirmation appears in biographical accounts stating that Albert took music lessons from Schein, further indicating that Schein acted as his teacher during Albert’s formative Leipzig years.
