Heinrich Karl Johann Hoffmann studied under Eduard Grell beginning in 1857 at the Kullak Conservatory in Berlin. Grell, already a prominent German organist, composer, and pedagogue, served as one of Hoffmann’s formative teachers during the early years of his musical education.
