Igor Lavrov was a student of Teodor Gutman at the Gnessin State Musical-Pedagogical Institute, graduating from his class in 1970. In honor of Gutman's birthday, Lavrov and his colleague Vadim Monastyrsky established an annual tradition of holding concerts in Ufa on November 11.
