Igor Naimark studied piano under Maria Yeshchenko at the Kharkiv Institute of Arts. He graduated from her class in 1979 and is recognized as one of her students who achieved success as a laureate and diploma winner in various musical competitions.
Following his graduation, Naimark served as an assistant in the department of special piano at the Kharkiv Institute of Arts from 1980 to 1982. Maria Yeshchenko was a professor at the institute and led the special piano department there for eighteen years.
