Isabella Colbran studied under the famous castrato and composer Girolamo Crescentini during her early musical training. According to sources, she began her vocal studies as a child and was taught by several prominent musicians, including Crescentini, who was already renowned throughout Europe. In Naples, she continued her formation under his guidance, where his refined bel canto technique helped shape her voice and artistic style.
Between 1806 and 1812, while Crescentini was appointed as the singing teacher of Napoleon’s Imperial Family and resided in Paris, Colbran was among his pupils there as well. His influence on her vocal development was significant, and she later dedicated a full collection of her own compositions—the "Quatrième recueil"—to Crescentini, acknowledging his importance in her artistic life.
