In St. Sebald Church, Johann Pachelbel is traditionally said to have studied under Georg Wecker, who served as organist there and was regarded as an important figure in the Nuremberg musical tradition. Wecker, a pupil of Kindermann and an acclaimed teacher, provided instruction in keyboard playing and composition to several notable musicians.
Although later scholarship suggests that Pachelbel’s formal study with Wecker may be uncertain, Wecker is still remembered as one of Pachelbel’s earliest musical influences during his formative years in Nuremberg.
