1786—1788
During these years, Johann Nepomuk Hummel studied under Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in Vienna, receiving close musical guidance at a formative stage in his development as a pianist and composer. Sources also note that Hummel’s period of study with Mozart may have begun slightly earlier, around 1785, and that during this apprenticeship he lived in Mozart’s household, gaining daily exposure to Mozart’s teaching methods, performance style, and compositional approach.
