Laura Rappoldi-Kahrer and Eduard Rappoldi were closely related as husband and wife. They met in 1870, when Laura was already an emerging pianist, and married in 1874. Their marriage connected two prominent musical careers, uniting Laura’s achievements as a pianist with Eduard’s work as a violinist, conductor, and teacher.
Their relationship extended deeply into their professional lives. After settling in Dresden in 1876, they frequently performed together, giving chamber concerts that became an important part of the city’s musical culture. They also undertook joint concert tours, including notable British performances in 1881. Their partnership produced a musical family as well, with their son Adrian Rappoldi later becoming a violinist.
