Leonardo de Leo studied under Nicola Fago at the Conservatorio della Pietà dei Turchini in Naples. After entering the conservatory in 1703, Leo became a pupil of Fago during his years of study there, receiving instruction in composition and counterpoint until completing his training in 1713. Fago, who served as primo maestro at the institution from 1705 to 1740, was one of Leo’s principal teachers and played a significant role in shaping his early musical formation.
