Lev Naumov studied piano under Heinrich Neuhaus at the Moscow Conservatory, graduating from the piano faculty in 1951. Neuhaus listed Naumov among the students of his class.
Beginning in 1956, Naumov served as an assistant to Professor Neuhaus. He is considered a bright representative and exponent of Neuhaus's pedagogical method, with his teacher's name serving as a guiding star for his life and creative path. Naumov authored the book "Under the Sign of Neuhaus" and dedicated conversations to his former teacher.
