Niccolò Jommelli studied under Nicola Fago after being transferred in 1728 from the Conservatorio di Santo Onofrio a Capuana to the Conservatorio della Pietà dei Turchini in Naples. At this institution Fago served as maestro from 1705 to 1740, and Jommelli received training directly under him, with Don Giacomo Sarcuni and Andrea Basso acting as secondary singing teachers. This period of study placed Jommelli among Fago’s notable pupils and connected him to the Neapolitan musical tradition that Fago helped shape.
