Contemporary accounts state that Speranza was known for a rigorous pedagogical method, requiring students to create rapid variations of arias while maintaining the character of the text, a discipline that particularly shaped Zingarelli’s technical mastery. Speranza, regarded as an exceptional teacher of singing and counterpoint, counted Zingarelli among his notable pupils.
