Pierre Baillot studied violin under Giovanni Battista Viotti. According to the article, Baillot first encountered Viotti at the age of ten, when he heard him perform one of his concertos and adopted him as his artistic model. After returning to Paris in 1791, Viotti personally secured Baillot a position in the opera orchestra, further strengthening their pedagogical link. Viotti is explicitly identified as Baillot’s teacher, and Baillot later became one of the foremost representatives of the French violin school founded by Viotti.
