Around 1815, Pietro Antonio Coppola traveled to Naples and entered the Santa Maria della Pietà dei Turchini Conservatory, where he studied under Niccolò Antonio Zingarelli. During this period, Zingarelli, already an established composer and later director of the Naples Conservatory, instructed Coppola as one of his composition teachers, shaping the young musician’s formal training before the premiere of Coppola’s first opera in 1816.
