Seiji Ozawa → Hideo Saito

Seiji Ozawa studied under Hideo Saito at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, an institution Saito helped found. Ozawa entered the school at the age of 16. After suffering an injury to both index fingers while playing rugby, he was forced to switch his focus to conducting, working with Saito. Ozawa graduated from the school in 1959.
