Siegfried Wagner was the son of the composer Richard Wagner and his second wife, Cosima. He was the couple's third child.
Following his father's example, Siegfried wrote the librettos for his own operas himself. He also served as the director of the Wagner festival in Bayreuth from 1908 to 1930.
