In 1918, Vadim Borisovsky entered the Moscow Conservatory, where he joined the violin class of Mikhail Press. However, one year later, Borisovsky became interested in playing the viola and transferred to the class of Vladimir Bakaleinikov. Borisovsky is explicitly listed among Press's students.
