Vladimir Horowitz studied under Sergei V. Tarnovsky at the Kiev Music School, which from September 1913 was reorganized into the Kiev Conservatory.
Tarnovsky later taught in Kiev as a professor at the Kiev Conservatory, where his students included Horowitz.
