Anatoly Alexandrovich Skripay (1943–2016) was a distinguished Soviet and Russian pianist, pedagogue, and professor who played a pivotal role in the musical life of Saratov. Born in Engels, Saratov Oblast, into a family that valued the arts, his musical path was defined by his studies with the renowned pedagogue Semyon Benditsky at the Saratov Conservatory, from which he graduated with honors in 1968. He completed his postgraduate education in 1972 at the Gnessin State Musical and Pedagogical Institute in Moscow under Theodor Gutman. Skripay was recognized as an Honored Artist of Russia in 1992 and an Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation in 2004.

His career was inextricably linked to the L. V. Sobinov Saratov State Conservatory, where he began teaching in 1967. Skripay was also a profound concert artist and chamber musician, known for an intellectual and philosophical approach to performance. His vast repertoire included monumental cycles of chamber music, such as the complete piano trios of Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert, and sonatas by composers ranging from Mozart to Schnittke. He collaborated with celebrated musicians including trumpeter Timofei Dokshitzer and conductor Veronika Dudarova. Notably, his interpretation of Elena Gokhman's vocal cycle Insomnia was instrumental in the work receiving the State Prize of the Russian Federation.
