Fernando Arizti was a Cuban pianist and music educator born in the 19th century. He received his first musical training in Cuba under the French teacher Juan Federico Edelman, who had settled on the island and became an important figure in local musical education. Arizti demonstrated early promise as a performer and soon sought further development abroad.

From 1842 he continued his studies in Paris, where he trained with the renowned pianist and pedagogue Friedrich Kalkbrenner. During this period he refined his technique and broadened his artistic outlook, becoming associated with European pianistic traditions. He later toured Spain with fellow Cuban musician Pablo Devernine, performing for distinguished audiences including Queen Isabella II.

Arizti returned to Cuba in 1848 and devoted the remainder of his life to teaching. His home became one of the main cultural centers of Havana, attracting musicians and students alike. Among his pupils was Nicolás Ruiz Espadero, who went on to become one of Cuba's most significant composers of the era.

Although Arizti left only a small number of original works, they include a Piano Fantasy and a Melody for violin, reflecting the musical tastes of his time. His legacy continued through his daughter, Cecilia Arizti Sobrino, who became a noted composer in her own right and contributed further to Cuban musical culture.
