Hideo Saito
Hideo Saito was a Japanese composer, cellist, conductor, and educator. He began his musical education in Japan under Hidemaro Konoye before continuing his studies in Europe.
He studied cello at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik with Emanuel Feuermann and at the Leipzig Conservatory with Julius Klengel. He also studied conducting in Japan under Joseph Rosenstock. Throughout his career, he performed with various symphony orchestras in Japan, including the NHK Symphony Orchestra.
Saito was one of the founders of the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo. He is particularly renowned for his teaching legacy, having mentored prominent conductors such as Seiji Ozawa and Eiji Oue.
