Irina Plotnikova

Irina Nikolaevna Plotnikova is a Soviet and Russian pianist and music teacher, born on August 23, 1954, in Moscow. She received her education at the Central Music School and subsequently graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 1978, where she studied in the class of Rudolf Kerer. She holds the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, awarded in 2008.

Plotnikova gained international recognition in 1977 when she won the inaugural Sydney International Piano Competition. This victory provided her with the opportunity to embark on a concert tour across Australia and to open the following competition in 1981 with a solo recital. Her competitive success continued in 1986 when she was awarded the third prize at the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition.

Throughout her career, Irina Plotnikova has performed extensively in Russia and internationally, both as a soloist and in a piano duo with her husband, Yuri Lisichenko. Her discography includes a recording of Franz Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 2. Since 1990, she has dedicated herself to pedagogy at the Moscow Conservatory. She was appointed as an associate professor in 1995 and has held the position of professor in the Special Piano Department since 2007.
