Karl Drechsler was a German cellist and music pedagogue. Born in Kamenz, he initially played in a military orchestra in Dresden during his youth. He later turned his attention to the cello and was accepted into the court orchestra in Dessau in 1820 as an additional cellist.

Through the patronage of Friedrich Schneider, Drechsler received funds from the ducal treasury to refine his skills under the guidance of Friedrich Dotzauer from 1824 to 1826. He subsequently returned to Dessau, where he worked in the court chapel as a soloist and Kapellmeister until 1871. He was also in demand as an ensemble player.

Drechsler was a significant teacher whose students included Friedrich Grützmacher, Bernhard Cossmann, August Lindner, Karl Schröder, and Fritz Espenhan. His son, Louis Drechsler (1827–1860), also studied under his father before training with Auguste Franchomme and working in Edinburgh. Drechsler's daughter married in Scotland, and her daughter became the violinist Bertha Drechsler Adamson.
