Naum Grubert
Naum Haimovich Grubert is a Latvian-Dutch pianist, born in Riga on February 25, 1951. He is the brother of the violinist Ilya Grubert. He studied at the Riga Conservatory and later perfected his skills in Moscow under the guidance of Teodor Gutman.
Grubert gained international recognition in the late 1970s. In 1977, he shared second place at the Montreal International Music Competition. In 1978, he was awarded the sixth prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition, the same year his brother won the first prize in the violin category.
In 1983, Grubert emigrated from the USSR and settled in the Netherlands. He has since held teaching positions at the conservatories of Amsterdam and The Hague. Alongside his pedagogical activities, he actively gives concerts in various European countries. His recordings include piano sonatas by Franz Schubert, Schubert's song cycle "Winterreise" (with singer Robert Holl), as well as works by Franz Liszt, Modest Mussorgsky, and Sergei Rachmaninoff.
