Pietro Filippo Scarlatti was an Italian composer, organist and choirmaster of the Baroque era. He was the oldest child of Alessandro Scarlatti and the older brother of Domenico Scarlatti. He began his musical career in 1705 as choirmaster of the Cathedral of Urbino. Three years later, in 1708, his father brought him to Naples, where he became a court organist. In 1728 his only known opera Clitarco was premiered at the Teatro San Bartolomeo in Naples; the score is now lost. His other principal works include three cantatas and a large number of keyboard toccatas.

He was born on 5 January 1679 in Rome and died on 22 February 1750 in Naples, marking a life closely tied to two major centers of Italian musical culture.

Among the surviving traces of his musical legacy, one of his keyboard toccatas was recorded by the musician Luciano Sgrizzi, offering a rare modern interpretation of his work.
