Rustam Shaykhutdinov
Rustam Radzhapovich Shaykhutdinov is a Russian pianist, arts figure, and professor. He is the former head of the Special Piano Department at the Zagir Ismagilov Ufa State Academy of Arts. He holds the title of Candidate of Art History and is an Honored Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Shaykhutdinov is a laureate of republican and international piano competitions in France, Italy, and Switzerland, as well as a recipient of the Sh. Babich State Republican Youth Prize.
Born in Ufa into a family of musicians, his father, Radzhap Yunusovich Shaykhutdinov, was an Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1985) and the BASSR (1976). Rustam began his musical education at the age of seven at the Special Music School. He later graduated from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music in 1998, where he studied in the class of Professor M.S. Gambaryan. From 1999 to 2001, he pursued postgraduate studies at the Magnitogorsk State Conservatory under the supervision of Professor O.A. Yakupova.
Shaykhutdinov's academic career began at the Ufa State Academy of Arts in 1998. In 2001, he successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation on "The Piano School of G. R. Ginzburg in Light of Modern Trends in Pianism." He is a professor at the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and has authored over 20 works, including scientific articles, academic programs, and the monograph "The Piano School of G. R. Ginzburg and its Role in the Development of Modern Pianism" (Ufa, 2006).
As a performing artist, Shaykhutdinov appears in cities throughout the Republic of Bashkortostan and neighboring regions, both as a soloist and as an ensemble member. He has served on the juries of numerous international competitions, including the Val Tidone Young Talents Competition, the Silvio Bengalli Piano Prize, and competitions named after K. N. Igumnov, Z. Ismagilov, and N. Sabitov. He is also a member of the Russian Union of Young Scientists. He is married and has a son.
