Semyon Solomonovich Benditsky was a prominent Soviet pianist and pedagogue born into a musical family. His father was a trombonist, and his siblings included distinguished violinists and cellists who played in major orchestras. After finishing school, Benditsky entered the Tiflis Conservatory (now the Tbilisi State Conservatory). He later continued his education at the Moscow Conservatory in the class of the renowned Professor Heinrich Neuhaus, graduating in 1934. During his studies, he also worked as an accompanist in the class of choral conductor N. M. Danilin.

From 1934 to 1946, Benditsky taught at the Sverdlovsk State Conservatory, where he headed the chamber ensemble department starting in 1944. In 1946, he relocated to Saratov, becoming a professor at the L. V. Sobinov Saratov State Conservatory in 1954. He is credited with creating a major piano school in the region, training numerous accomplished pedagogues and performers.

In 1960, Benditsky organized the Pianists' Club, which conducted active musical and educational activities in Saratov and other cities across the USSR. He passed away in Saratov on January 22, 1993. His legacy continues through open competitions for young pianists named in his honor in Saratov. His family remained deeply connected to music, with his children from two marriages becoming professional musicians and composers.
