Valentin Feigin was a distinguished Russian cellist and educator, recognized as a People's Artist of Russia in 1994. Born in Kharkiv, he received his initial musical training at the Kharkiv Music School in the class of I. M. Kogan. He subsequently moved to Moscow to continue his education, graduating from the Moscow Conservatory in 1957 and completing his postgraduate studies there in 1960 under the tutelage of Semyon Kozolupov.

Feigin gained international recognition through his success in prestigious competitions. In 1957, he was awarded the First Prize at the VI World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow. He later won the Third Prize at the All-Union Competition of Musicians and Performers in 1961 and achieved the Second Prize at the Second International Tchaikovsky Competition in 1962.

Beginning in 1960, Feigin served as a soloist for the Mosconcert and toured extensively abroad. Alongside his performance career, he was a significant pedagogue, teaching at the Moscow Conservatory from 1974. His students included notable musicians such as Kerstin Feltz, Peeter Paemurru, Sergei Istomin, and his son, Dmitry Feigin. He was named an Honored Artist of the RSFSR in 1983.
